The Matanuska Susitna Valley
From Eagle River to Girdwood
The Matanuska-Susitna Valley also known locally as the Mat-Su or The Valley is Alaska’s second largest populous as well as the fastest growing area in the State. The Valley carved out by ancient and some still existing glaciers is surrounded by three mountain ranges, the Chugach, Talkeetnas and the Alaska Range, so to say the area is a naturalists playground is an understatement. Hundreds of rivers and lakes of the MatSu Valley are a great place fresh water fish, kayak or canoe a water trail or visit one of the many agricultural farms to see giant vegetables or play with adorable reindeer or giant musk oxen.
